Drawing Inward

..."With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees,

And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;" John Keats

As I am sitting at my desk, looking across the valley to Bath Weston, I contemplate on the summer and the changes it has brought.  There is great value in drawing in and letting a short resume of the past months relive once more in your mind's eye.   Keat's poem, To Autumn, is like a reflective meditation on the beauty and fullness of the natural progression, the cycle of life and death and the acceptance of change.

Change, I would say, is what the majority of clients I see are looking for.  Either wanting to feel different (better) in their bodies, needing to let go of stressful memories they have been holding, shedding unhelpful patterns or seeking a different view on life.

When listening to your body in a cranial session I do become aware of different patterns and rhythms.  There are the obvious ones like your heart beat or your breathing which you are familiar with.  By tuning in to the cranial fluid I encounter deeper laying, often hidden, patterns that may not be helpful to your well-being.  Because these unhelpful patterns may have ingrained themselves into your body's system other body functions will have adapted themselves to adhere to them.

It is easy to see that some of these patterns will cause trouble. If you let me explain what I mean in an example.  Say you are feeling anxious about something (notice it is just a feeling at this stage), this feeling may then restrict the solar plexus area (just below the sternum).  If not monitored, it transforms itself into a physical symptom affecting your diaphragm, a dome-shaped large muscle that lies across the middle of your body. In a relaxed state the diaphragm moves gently in an expansion and contracting fashion which allows for optimum breathing.  So if the breathing is inhibited, the oxygen intake is restricted, which has the consequence that the body is not working to the best of its ability.  We may feel tired as not enough oxygen reaches the lungs for a proper exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood.  So in a next stage you might experience aches and pains, then an inflammation arises as toxins are not shifted out of the body.  This condition will show itself in different parts of the body for different people.

The good news is, we do not remain in these stuck patterns during a cranial session. By "seeing" and acknowledging these deep patterns they rise to consciousness and are able to subside.  "Stuck" patterns are superseded by the body's innate wisdom (housed in the cranial fluid) to right itself back to health and heal.

Some changes are felt instantly by clients during a session, others are subtle in nature and will emerge in days or weeks following a session.

30 years in practice has shown me not only to be in awe but also in service of this all encompassing intelligence within each body.

My intention and focus during all treatments are therefore only on the cranial fluid movement and the health within your body.
