"Listen to Silence. It has so much to say." Rumi
Last week we drove through northern Spain, passing many empty villages, grant mountains, meandering rivers and tranquil lakes. The atmosphere was that of deep presence in stillness. After parking our car, we met an elderly farmer whom we asked for footpath directions to the large reservoir, Embalse de Camporredondo. He was on his way back to his farm after taking one of his cows for grazing to an open field just opposite where we parked. As he did not speak any English and we not much Spanish we thanked him and looked at our maps. Suddenly we noticed that the farmer walked in the direction of what we thought was the path to the lake instead of his farmhouse. Quietly and contemplatively, he wandered ahead, and we decided to pensively follow him. How many times he must have walked that stretch to the reservoir before but nevertheless he wanted us to experience the peaceful lake without the use of any words. We three arrived at the scene at different times and stood without words in awe of the surrounding and the deep silence......letting the mountains and lake have "their say".
In cranial terms we speak of this as a fulcrum, a still point. A fulcrum can be induced with certain techniques but even better when it naturally occurs during a cranial session.
It is a power point from which deep healing of the body can take place. The cranial fluid whilst "standing still" has the opportunity to gain in potency and this new potency is able to shift unhelpful patterns
After a still point the body's tissues often re-orient themselves back to health. The impression I received in Spain and the experience of a still point in a client's system is so much more than words can express......and I can only agree with Rumi in that silence has so much more to say.
